Milwaukee was a fever dream for Lillard and everyone in Portland, but now, the fever has broken. It’s time to wash the sheets, take a shower, and come home, Dame.
Across the NBA, trades are happening seemingly just to happen. Mason Plumlee to the Supersonics, Jusuf Nurkic to the Comets, CJ McCollum joined the Wilmington Stink Eyes and Jordan Clarkson to the Knicks. Let’s see what else the NBA can squeeze out of this off season to confuse the living shit out of us, shall we?
Here’s really what went down, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Commissioner’s Cup
The Fever beat the Lynx 74-59 Tuesday night to win the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup. They did it without Clark, (and without DeWanna Bonner, who recently exited the team), but with 2x WNBA champ and now 2x Commissioner’s Cup champ, Sydney Colson, who kinda can’t stop winning wherever she goes.
Stud4StudBudz?
Courtney and Natisha addressed some allegations in a recent livestream. TL;DR: Baddies only.
CP3 Jersey Retirement
(No, not Chris Paul, that man would have to retire for something like this to happen.) We are of course talking about Candace Parker, who played 13 seasons with the Los Angeles Sparks after being drafted the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 draft. There, she won a championship, Rookie of the Year, and two MVP awards (one awarded in her rookie year) - mama, there go that woman. Congrats to Candace Parker on an incredible career, and a long career in TV ahead of her.
New Episode of Pickup: Looney Tunes
In yet another musical episode, Ciara, Ashtyn, and Alex discuss the NBA trades of the day, WNBA expansion and All-Star, the Rocky movies, the etiquette of Insta DMs, and maybe more, if you listen to the whole thing.
Leave us a review and we just might read it on the pod…
Toot Toot
Sorry, but we’re still super excited about having created the Golden State Valkyries’ Pride Night poster. It was a “you had to be there” kinda moment, where only the first 10,000 fans in attendance at the Chase Center received one. For those of you who asked where you can get one, they are probably selling on eBay for upwards of $80,000, but if that’s too steep for you, stay tuned. We just might create some art prints in the near future…
r/Basketball
Can anyone help this person who doesn’t really follow basketball understand a little more about whether the 2023 No. 1 overall draft pick is actually good?
